Marian Snyder — kidnap hoax

July 30, 1987: Marian Snyder of New Jersey goes the extra mile when she fakes her own kidnapping and rape. The report below is from the Bangor Daily News (Maine), September 8, 1987, page 4. Four months later and less than a hundred miles away we saw the notorious Tawana Brawley hoax. It is unlikely though not impossible that the latter was inspired by the former, but the current case received very little publicity, probably because it lacked the alchemy of race. One thing I’m sure we can agree on though is that in the words of anti-feminist vlogger Diana Davison: “Dem bitches be crazy!”
