November 12, 1997: A teenager is raped in Detroit.
This case is a one-off. The girl was 15 and she had just had sex with James Chad-Lewis Clay, who was 16. In some states this would be considered statutory rape, but that doesn’t concern us here. In the UK, the age of consent is 16, the same as when I was at school in the 60s. The 1960s! At that time there were girls of 14 who were having sex with boys of the same age or slightly older, but not with me, alas.
In the Clay case, the girl was dragged into an alley at gunpoint, a cloth was put over her head, and she was raped. Like most genuine victims, she reported it at once and went to hospital where a rape kit was administered.
The rape kit wasn’t submitted until – get this – 2009. This is absurd. If a suspect is arrested and he claims consent, then a rape kit is irrelevant, but in a clear case of stranger rape...Unreal.
In 2017, a DNA profile was developed from the rape kit that linked to Clay. His DNA was on file for a non-violent crime of dishonesty. He had clearly lost contact with the victim, and due to the passage of time, she didn’t recognise him.
On November 12, 1997, Clay was convicted and given a sentence of 25 to 50 years. There is a lot more to this story; for one thing, it is difficult to credit the police thought a teenager was responsible at the time.
Nevertheless, Clay was released from prison on July 23, 2019, and the case against him was dismissed on August 31 the same year. The real rapist appears to have gotten clean away.

The above video was uploaded to a YouTube channel called Mgtow Reminder on July 21, 2021. (I did a brief search but couldn’t find the original source). When I found it on July 30 around 2.30am, it had been viewed 5 times. When I consulted it again around 00.50am on November 7, 2021, it had been viewed only 8 times. The channel had 58 subscribers. The truth is precious, but clearly unpopular.
