January 3, 2008: A woman police officer is allegedly raped by the Prime Minister of Saint Vincent. Ralph Gonsalves is a larger than life figure, but even charismatic politicians can find themselves the victim of scandal.
The woman concerned did not report this phantom rape for the best part of a month, a delay that would be totally inexcusable if it was a delay rather than a contrived allegation. The first report in the press appears to be February 1.
This allegation also appears in Wikileaks files wherein it is suggested that the alleged victim was bought off. It remains to be seen if that was indeed the case, but before giving an allegation like this any credence whatsoever, one is entitled to ask the following questions:
1) Michelle Andrews was more than twenty years his junior, and presumably physically fit; would she not have resisted him?
2) Would she not have arrested him or had him arrested?
3)Would she not have sought medical treatment and collected evidence? She was a police officer, after all.
Andrews is far from the only woman to accuse Mr Gonsalves of sexual assault, but before giving credence to any of his accusers, check out what I wrote about Donald Trump. One allegation made reasonably promptly coupled with forensic evidence is worth the retrospective accusations of a thousand liars.
