February 2004: Married woman and mother Merete Underwood stages an elaborate kidnapping and rape by two men, allegedly in a Bayswater hotel room. In June 2005, she is given a 12 month sentence at Middlesex Crown Court. This may not have been her first false rape allegation.

The Daily Mirror, June 10, 2005, page 17 contains an interview with the first husband of Merete Underwood. According to Frank Ogreid speaking from Norway, she once tried to drown herself in a bath. In 1992 she made an allegation of rape that led to a man receiving a 2 year sentence. She made another allegation in 1997. She also claimed falsely to be suffering from a brain tumour.
