October 16, 2009: I though I’d seen it all, then I found this one! At Maldon, Essex, Elaine Noble propositions a man less than half her age. She offers him £20 to have sex with her. She was a married woman but she didn’t cry rape because her husband found out. He was with her! She performs a sex act on this unnamed youth – which presumably means she gave him head – and for some reason, he panicked and ran off.
Then, Mr and Mrs Noble got to a local caff/bar to raise the alarm. The victim is arrested and held for 16 hours, but a witness and CCTV come to his rescue. It appears that Mark Noble suffered a disability following an industrial accident, which probably means he could only get off on watching his wife doing it with someone else. The judge was not impressed, and when they appeared at Chelmsford Crown Court in March 2010, they were each given nine months.
And guess what the police said? Here is DC Alison Cotter:
“Every time a false allegation of rape is made it heightens the difficulty for those women who have been the victims of this horrendous crime.”
She continued:
“These two people have carried out a gross disservice to every genuine victim of a sexual offence.”
To be fair though, she did also mention the real victim.
Amusingly, an American woman named Elaine Noble became the first out lesbian to be elected to the state legislature – Massachusetts in 1974.
