December 8, 2011: Kelly Atkins is given a 2 year sentence at Canterbury Crown Court for making a false rape allegation against a former lover and another man. Both Wayne Maddox and Ricky Lambert were arrested but they weren’t in custody long. Atkins claimed to have been attacked by three men, one of whom had stolen her handbag. She had actually left this in a public house, and it had been handed in to a member of staff. This came to light almost at once, and her narrative collapsed.

Atkins is very attractive, but turned out to be alluring poison. Shortly after she was sentenced, Maddox sold his story to a tabloid newspaper; it makes interesting reading. Now ask yourself what might have happened to these two if her handbag had not been handed in?
