August 1, 2001: George McHugh is arrested after he is accused of abducting and raping Karen DeCosta of Revere, Massachusetts. The two had been an item, McHugh siring a daughter with her before marrying another woman; DeCosta appears to have been unable to accept their relationship was over because McHugh took out a restraining order against her, and in July 2002 she found herself in court accused of violating it.
Sadly, things got worse, like mega. In 2005, she was back in court accused of attempting to kidnap their daughter, McHugh having been granted permanent custody of the girl on February 17, 2004 when Judge Stephen M. Limon ruled DeCosta to be an unfit parent. She was said to have previously attempted to hire a contract killer to murder McHugh. She was said also to have hired someone to plant illegal drugs in McHugh’s wife’s car. The reader might like to compare this with the case of Maria Marchese.
