July 15, 1995: This is another case that sees an innocent man’s life all but destroyed on the uncorroborated testimony of a wanton woman. In Hampshire, traffic warden Anthony Hunt is invited into the home of a special constable known here only as AB. They have sex. She doesn’t tell the police she was raped, although she does tell other traffic wardens. In March 2002, one of these traffic wardens tells another (senior) traffic warden, who reports it to the police.

Anthony Hunt is arrested on May 14, 2002. It is claimed that AB had reported the alleged rape by phone to her sub-divisional officer within half an hour. And he did nothing. On December 18, 2003, Anthony Hunt is given a four year sentence at Winchester Crown Court. On December 6, 2005, his appeal is heard. And is allowed. Among other things, two witnesses recalled seeing him in the company of his accuser after the date of the non-rape. Here is the full story.
