October 29, 1977: In Florida, Sally Hullender of Haines City and an unnamed teenager from Plant City claim to have been raped in separate incidents.
The report below from page 1B of The Ledger (Lakeland, Florida), November 3, 1977 tells both stories. Hullender told detectives she had been raped by two men; the doctor told them otherwise.
The 16 year old girl is a much sadder case; she phoned the sheriff’s office to report being raped in a car on a state road. She was highly intoxicated and obviously not telling the truth. When law enforcement contacted the girl’s mother they were told she was a runaway who had been prostituting herself. The girl was delivered to the mother’s custody. Selling her body is no pastime for a 16 year old.
