March 25, 2009: The husband of Australian police officer Natalie Passalick finds out about her affair with Heath Merry.
This report published after her acquittal covers the case of this (now former) police officer who had accused a fellow officer of rape.
In reality, Natalie Irene Passalick had an affair with Merry, then claimed he’d raped her in January 2009 after her husband found out. (The linked article gives the date mistakenly as January 2010, but I have chosen not to correct it). She did not report this imaginary rape at the time, but leaving that aside, what are we to make of her acquittal?
This is the way the law works. Sergeant Merry was never charged with rape, and does anyone really believe this woman, including the judge? She claims he raped her in January 2009, but is still sending him affectionate e-mails two months later?
In July 2015, it was reported that Merry had been nominated for a Heroism Medal in the Pride Of Australia Awards, the basis of which was said to be his workplace heroism, which presumably did not include shagging junior officers.
