June 2008: British tourist Ross Mitchell is accused of attacking a Swedish national on the Greek island of Kos. It is reported that she is a scam artist involved in organised fraud who is said to have made over £600,000 by targeting tourists, including at least three other Britons.

There is a postscript to this affair. After reading this article, the reader will have to decide if this woman is telling the truth. My personal belief is that there may have been a genuine rape, but that it then occurred to someone that rich pickings could be made out of fake ones. In this connection the reader is referred to the unambiguously false cases of Normile (October 31, 1992) and Mangan (August 7, 1997).
