Here is a report from the South Yorkshire Times the following day. (The original page has not been archived, even though I ran it through the Wayback Machine at the time).
The case was also reported by Jeni Harvey in the Yorkshire Post; the NewsBank entry is dated July 27, 2010. Whatever, this is not important.
You have to wonder at the mentality of a woman who accuses her lover of raping her because he doesn’t do his share of the housework. Since when did men ever do the housework? Seriously though, she is said to have told the police she made this false allegation to score points. Three days later, she accused him of a common or garden assault. According to the Yorkshire Post report, she said she was so drunk she couldn’t remember making the false rape claim. She appeared to have a problem with the demon drink, but the eight month sentence handed down by Judge Simon Lawler QC would have given her time to sober up.
She also had an unusual love life. She was older than her victim, Alan Jones, and had two children by his father! When that relationship ended the previous December, she took up with the son.
She made both false allegations in April 2010. Although receiving a fixed penalty notice at the time, she was still being treated as a rape victim.
The fact that she recanted proves she isn’t a total cunt, but better not to make false allegations in the first place.
(Al Stewart fans may detect a song title in the above).
