The investigation entailed not only the boy’s arrest but an extensive investigation, a re-enactment, and examination of CCTV footage. It was only in January 2004 that she came clean. This was followed by the usual apologetics in court, augmented by the claim that the girl had a very low mental age, although she was clearly not attending a school for retards.
