The Alex Salmond Conspiracy

August 2018-March 2020: The Alex Salmond conspiracy in Scotland.

Salmond became interested in politics as a teenager, becoming a British MP in 1987, serving later as a Member of the Scottish Parliament, rising to become First Minister of Scotland from 2007-2014.

In August 2018, he faced a number of allegations of sexual misconduct which resulted in his standing trial in March 2020 on two charges of attempted rape and a number of lesser charges.

Although it arose from entirely different motives, his case bears a striking resemblance to the conspiracy against Jian Ghomeshi in Canada, his accusers plotting against him through social media.

He was found not proven on one charge and not guilty on all the rest, then, as with the Ghomeshi case, his accusers – who unlike Ghomeshi’s remained anonymous – were given space by a compliant and spineless press to in effect reaffirm their clearly perjured testimony.

Rape Crisis Scotland joined in his chorus – how could nine women all be lying? Well in this case, they were.

This excellent analysis is one of a number of articles by Craig Murray.

Alexander Elliot Anderson Salmond died shortly after giving a speech in North Macedonia on October 12, 2024. He was 69.
