Sordid Sex In New Zealand

This is an incredibly sordid case.

In March 1996, Jason Dale, his brother Paul and their friend Callum McLeod visit a young woman at Palmerston whom they are alleged to have sexually violated including with a candle, two carrots, and a broom handle.

In August, they are convicted by the Dunedin District Court. These men were no angels, to put it mildly, but...

In February 1999, she recanted her allegations, and in May 1999 she recanted her recantation!

This article from September 2000 gives some of the background. It could have been worded better but it should be clear she went on to make a demonstrably false allegation of sexual assault against two other men. The sex was real enough but so was her consent, and her husband took part in it. She appears to have been single in March 1996.

Alas, her retraction did the Dales and McLeod no good.

This case is a salutary lesson for men. Guys, give women like this a miss. If you wouldn’t take her home to meet mother, she isn’t worth the candle. By the same token, women should think twice and thrice before engaging in these kinds of practices.
