Conspiracy In Garden Grove

May 15, 2003: At Garden Grove, California, a young girl is attacked by a strange man shortly identified as Eric Nordmark. At least that is what she claims. And her two friends.

This isn’t an allegation of rape, but it is included here because it was so outrageous involving three young girls conspiring to frame a totally innocent man.

When I found this case I thought I’d already added it to the Timeline. Check out the case of Nicole DuPont and her two friends from April 1999.

I found documentation on this case in several places, but here is an article from a slightly off-beat website. It includes comments.

The bottom line is these three girls, all 11 years old, were walking home from Woodbury Elementary School when, according to them, a man appeared behind them, grabbed one of them, pushed her onto her back then began pulling her hair and tearing at her shirt. This could well constitute an indecent assault or attempted indecent assault.

As her two friends helped her, the first girl managed to kick the man in the groin, and he ran off.

Nordmark came under suspicion the following day; three days later he was positively identified by two of the girls, and arrested.

He has been described as homeless and a drifter. In his mid-thirties, he was clearly one of life’s losers. He ended up spending 251 days in the Orange County Jail where he says he considered suicide.

Two days into the trial, the girl who was allegedly attacked admitted they’d made the whole thing up because they were late home.

In that connection, check out this 2006 case from England.

Nordmark appears to have recovered well after his troubles due to an excellent public defender and the kindness of strangers, but things didn’t end so well for the three girls. In February 2004, a judicial commissioner ruled they posed a danger to society, and they were ordered to stand trial.

The courts wasted no time on this one; the following month, all three girls received complex sentences. Two were given 45 days; one received a month. All were given 9 (nine) years of probation!

File under WHAT’S THE MATTER WITH KIDS TODAY? and NONE DARE CALL IT CONSPIRACY.
