July 26 & August 3, 1991: In Kildare, a woman is allegedly raped by her husband. This was the first marital rape trial in the Irish Republic. It ended in acquittal, rightly so. It is clear the anonymous non-victim had severe credibility problems, including an admission in a lower court of lying in a police statement, which caused the first trial to collapse.
I had real problems with the images below. I wanted to create JPGs but the quality was terrible. This first report appeared on page 3. If you enlarge it with your PDF viewer, the quality should be quite good.
In December 1993, the accused was acquitted after a retrial. The judge had some strong words for Rape Crisis; this newspaper agrees. Here is the second part of this report.
My Irish correspondent Sean Coleman also has some strong words for the Irish Rape Crisis network. An entry on the Timeline for January 2002 relates to Dr Moira Woods who did a lot of damage. Woods was actually born in London, and many Irishmen wish she’d stayed there.
Rape Crisis Scotland is equally odious, as is the campus sexual grievance industry, especially in the United States.
