Two cases for the price of one from the Hoosier State. No one was charged with any offence in either case.

November 17, 1991: At Valparaiso, Indiana, a teenager tells police she was raped the previous night.

November 20, 1991: At Valparaiso, Indiana, a university student tells police she was raped the previous evening.

According to NewsBank, the first report below was written by staff writer Joseph N. DiStefano and appeared on page B1. The second report was also contributed by him and appeared on page B2. The first report covers both cases.

In the first case, a 16 year old girl turned up at police headquarters on Jefferson Street accompanied by her boyfriend. She claimed that she and another girl had been raped by two Valparaiso University students they had met the previous night. The other girl said she herself had had sex voluntarily. End of story. However, Little Miss Innocent attended Porter Memorial Hospital where it was confirmed she had had sex. A 4 day investigation was said to have worn out 3 typewriter ribbons. Yes, some people were still using typewriters in 1991! Eventually, the girl changed her story. The word alcohol appears in this report. Nuff said! The age of consent in Indiana is 16. End of that story too.

In the student case, a 3 day investigation led to her recanting. The sex was consensual though one assumes unsatisfactory. A case of FEMINIST BRAINWASHING perhaps?
