CARLI PURVIS — No Rape, No Sex Either

February 7, 2004: Teenager and single mother Carli Purvis goes to a nightclub with her boyfriend but leaves with Toby Cullen. They go to his mother’s house where they watch television then go to bed but she doesn’t feel like having sex – at least not with him – and leaves the house in the small hours. Then she phones her boyfriend and tells him she has been raped. Her victim is arrested on February 23 and held for a little over 5 hours. Purvis is said to have wasted 254 hours of police time. When she appears at Newcastle Crown Court on August 24, 2004, she is given a six month sentence.
